Core-Network To MT: Extensive customisation of our network

We will be carrying out extensive maintenance work on our network from 20 October 2024 from 00:30 to 02:30.

We are adapting the failover and VRRP principle in more detail, revising all of our routing configurations and commissioning additional backup solutions - in order to be able to provide improved options in the future.

This work is urgently needed due to the recent maintenance of our upstream.

During the maintenance process, there may be interruptions, timeouts and probable downtimes of the network infrastructure - as we also have to work on the failover principle and adapt and test all or optimal options.

--

Update from 20.10 - 03:57:

We have now applied our optimisations to our routers and tested VRRP. Our configurations are correct and have largely been implemented.

Apparently there is a NAT problem with our upstream, which means that the failover is not 100% effective. We are still waiting for feedback from our upstream in order to clarify the problem and possibly rectify it. An answer is pending.

Once we have received the response from our upstream, we will continue our work at night.

  • Our current upstream obviously doesn't want to identify and fix the problem.

We will be changing our provider in the coming week and will schedule a new maintenance appointment.

NTT Global Datacenter FRA1 Maintainance: Internal relocation at NTT (DE)

We would like to announce a new maintenance window for our location in NTT, Frankfurt am Main (DE).

For economic reasons, we have to move internally to another rack. In addition, we need to update all IP addresses - which we will inform you about separately. This move is of full importance to us, due to previous issues with our provider. We have been in contact with a new provider for several months and can now take the plunge so that we can improve other network-specific aspects. In the new rack we have better peering, lower latencies and eliminate our minimal packet loss.

The move has been scheduled for 20 December 2023 in the night from 01:00 to 05:30.

  • We were able to complete the maintenance work at around 04:40. There were no complications.

  • To the TeamSpeak instances at the location:

We have already carried out the migration, which went without any complications. All data has been restored and the IPv4 address can now also be called up in all administration interfaces. Otherwise, we have not made any changes.

To the KVM root servers at the site:

We have already migrated approx. 30% of all existing servers, which has gone without any complications so far. All data has been restored and the IP addresses of the previously migrated servers are already available in all administration interfaces.

To the dedicated servers, colocation & housing at the site:

We have already been able to move half a rack and have not experienced any further problems. The relocated systems are running without any complications and the IP addresses can now be accessed by all customers in all administration interfaces.

    Core-Network Longer packet loss detected

    ** Manual incident **

We have now measured an average packet loss of 6.46% in NTT FRA01 (DE) for several hours (four hours and 36 minutes to be precise). This value fluctuates between 2.63% and 11.71%.

So far we have no information available.

Explanation of the incident report: If a packet loss of more than 10.00% is measured over a period of 10 minutes, our system automatically triggers an alarm. For this reason, we have reported the manual incident.

  • In the meantime, we can say that the network has obviously continued to stabilise.

Results from our provider are still pending.
