Maintenance
Restart - Düsseldorf infrastructure

We are rebooting our infrastructure in Düsseldorf and deploying new updates and security aspects.

The restart is scheduled to take 30 minutes and should not cause any irregularities. During this time, all services running on the infrastructure will be unavailable.

Start: 11.04.2025 - 23:00

Expected end: 11.04.2025 - 23:30

Expansion of the RPKI cluster

We are expanding the RPKI cluster and would like to integrate additional slaves into the cluster. So that we can continue to operate the RPKI certificates.

We currently have a single server in the cluster, which can result in rejection or unavailability of the individual IP networks in the event of failures by our provider. By expanding the cluster, we are addressing this problem and adding two more servers to the cluster - which are operated via multi-sites.

During this period, there may be interruptions to the RPKI certificates. We do not expect this, but we would still like to inform you of any circumstances. Should this be the case, we will always endeavour to deploy the RPKI certificates again immediately.

Start: 15.04.2025 - 01:00 a.m.

Expected end: 15.04.2025 - 03:00 a.m.

Updates for the mail cluster

We will update the mail cluster to the current status and integrate additional security mechanisms in the course of the past updates.

We expect half an hour per node, as we operate nine of them - we assume a maintenance window of five to seven hours.

We carry out the updates in such a way that the availability of a mail server is guaranteed at all times. This means that all important emails can be delivered and sent.

Accordingly, we do not expect any downtime overall.

Start: 17.04.2025 - 01:00 a.m.

Expected end: 17.04.2025 - 08:00 a.m.

    DNS problems with schleyer.network

Unfortunately, an error occurred during an internal domain transfer, which we now have to solve with the help of our provider.

During this time - the problem solving - our NOC (Network Operations Center) team cannot be reached publicly, but only by creating a support ticket with an email to info@schleyer-edv.de.

We ask for your patience until we can resolve this issue.

  • We were able to fix the mentioned problems, the DNS zone was available within a short time after the successful fix after yesterday's message.

The 24-hour monitoring revealed only isolated errors, which resolved themselves.

  • The interface of our provider delivered an error, which could be corrected in the meantime.

All necessary DNS entries, for example for our database cluster, exist again.

Inaccessibility can still be detected for some users. We apologise for this, the change may still take 24 hours for some.

Webhosting Webhosting (vweb01) and Mailserver (Exchange)

We are currently experiencing a massive spam outrage against our services and our mail server. As a result, our vweb01 has been entered on all spam hosts, and our company mailboxes are also receiving a large number of mails from dubious registrations and newsletter applications. We have been able to block most of the incoming mails with the help of spam policies.

We will continue to remedy this with the help of LUMASERV, Plesk and Exchange and will publish further status updates.

  • We could not identify any further problems.

  • Around 15:00 we disconnected the network connection to the outside in cooperation with LUMASERV. During this disconnection, the problem with our vweb01 was solved in the meantime. We have also made further security-relevant configurations to avoid such incidents in the future.

The availability of the services is available to you again without any problems. At the same time, we are making further diagnoses to determine how this incident occurred. In the meantime, our e-mail services are also available again without any other incidents.

We will monitor the progress over the next 48 hours.

    Massive power fluctuations

    Automated incident reporting

We have detected massive power fluctuations at one of two racks, each lasting between two and six minutes. The impairment of the power voltage is between 13-30%. Measures have already been taken and less critical infrastructure parts have been shut down to avoid an overvoltage.

    Further observations are being made.

  • After 24 hours of monitoring, we did not notice any other areas of influence. Incident now closed.

  • We were able to restart the failed servers without any problems.

According to information from the data centre, it was due to the mains supply, the connection of the UPS took too long - which resulted in the shutdown of some systems. Within seconds, the power flow was back to normal.

We will observe the further course of events for another 24 hours.
